Learning Goal: I’m working on a english writing question and need a reference to help me learn.
Briefly propose what your two texts will be writing/creating for Project 3! Make sure to include the purpose, audience, and genre for each text in your description. For example, your post could be as simple as: “For Text 1, I plan to create an informative video for college students to explain the dynamics of college writing. For Text 2, I plan to write a persuasive op-ed aimed for the local Miami community to argue for more funding for college writing.” You can see how those have different genres, different purposes, and different audiences (you need at least 2 of the 3 to be different between your two texts).
Post the description of your first text, which should be a written genre that’s at 600 words long. Remember your written text should be persuasive.
Post the description of your second text, which can be more creative and shorter.
Note: For each of your texts, include a link to an example (or a screenshot) of a text in the same genre that inspires you. For example, if you choose to write an op-ed, find an example that inspires you. If you choose to write a letter to a public official, find an example that inspires you.
This assignment is formatted as a public discussion board that you can view before posting, so feel free to browse through other’s ideas if you want to before you post!
Comment on two peers’ posts. You can give them feedback to help them improve their idea, you can tell them what you liked, you can ask questions about what’s unclear, you can put them back on the right track if they misunderstood the assignment, etc.

My first text will be a persuasive article on why parents of teenagers should prevent their kids from playing violent video games. It will provide detailed information about brain activity of teenagers who do play violent video games, compared to teenagers who don’t. The purpose is to try and persuade the parents to be a bit more controlling on which video games there kids should play. An article that inspired me and informed me was https://www.brainandlife.org/articles/how-do-video-games-affect-the-developing-brains-of-children (Links to an external site.).
My second text will be an informative video on the effects of violent video games on teenagers who play them. It will go on to explain the changes to the brain that it has, and the behavioral patterns of the kids. The purpose to is keep parents of teenagers informed about the effects. My link is not to a video but an article that had information that I believed would be better said out loud than being read by someone. https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2019.00384/full
