Research Question: How do 12th graders’ frequency of Cocaine /Crack differ by ra

Research Question: How do 12th graders’ frequency of Cocaine /Crack differ by race/ethnicity among students over 18 and students under 18 (age) in the past-month?
Introduction:
The introduction section establishes what your research project is, why you are doing it and any necessary background information the audience needs to understand the project. The idea is to start with the most broad information first, and then narrow in on your specific topic and hypotheses. For example, if you were studying race differences in stress exposure, you would want to define what stress exposure is. You would then talk about the importance of studying stress exposure by race/ethnicity, and then what aspects of race and stress exposure that have not been studied yet. You can then lead to explaining your research project, why it fills that knowledge gap, and why it is significant. Lastly, detail your alternative hypotheses in this section toward the end. This section is usually around one to two paragraphs.
Start researching some background literature for your introduction section of the poster. You should aim to include at least 4-5 references/citations in your introduction.

Physical Activity, moving, can change many aspects of one’s life. Reading the Chapter, you learned that daily activity that moderately raises your your heart rate for 30 minutes a day, even in 10 minutes accumulated sessions, can decrease your chance of dying from a hypokinetic disease. That is a huge difference in your quality and quantity of life.
Watch this video and then discuss two of these items: (7 points)
1. List two activities you listed in your Chapter 10 Assessment. Either list the activities you did or the activities you could do to move more in your life. Do not list here things like going to the gym more. Describe the activity in detail. List activities that would be at least 10 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity.
2. Where you surprised that sitting was listed as more of a health risk factor than smoking? Discuss this in detail. Say more than, “yes I was surprised” discuss the implications as related to Physical Activity.
3. What do you think about physical education listed as a core subject in school? Should the importance of physical education in the curriculum be equal to the importance of reading and math?
Remember to reply to one other student. (3 points)

Assignment)
General Description
Signature Assignment – all students in all sections of HSC 421 are required to complete
this assignment). This assignment will require students to conduct a thorough review of
the professional literature and prepare a comprehensive paper based on identifying,
researching, and discussing a current health behavior issue. This paper is designed to
facilitate students’ comprehension of methodologies that impact health behavior
change. Length: 8 double-spaced typed pages using 10-12-point Times New Roman font
with 1-inch margins all around. Provide sub-headings for each section (e.g.,
introduction, main points, etc.). See the rubric and sample papers in BeachBoard. Submit
this paper to the appropriate Dropbox in BeachBoard.
Requirements
1. Health Behavior Introduction. Define and describe the health behavior.
Discuss the health behavior’s significance to public health. Discuss how this
health behavior is relevant to this health behavior course. State what the overall
paper will focus on, including your original thoughts regarding the utility and
application of the theories/models to the health behavior. Briefly outline the main
points in your paper.
2. Main Points
a. Health Behavior Background. Discuss the ways in which this health
behavior significantly affects the health status in a particular group of people
(e.g. low socioeconomic status, specific racial/ethnic groups, people with
disabilities, elderly, children, etc.). Discuss the determinants of health for
this health behavior. Provide clear and well supported evidence.
b. Health Behavior Theories and Models. Choose at least two of the
following health behavior theories/models: The Health Belief Model, The
Transtheoretical Model, The Theory of Reasoned Action; The Theory of
Planned Behavior; The Precaution Adoption Process Model, and the Social
Cognitive Theory
i. Briefly describe and compare each of your chosen theories and/or
models including any constructs.
ii. Briefly explain how each of your chosen theories and/or models are
relevant and applicable to the health behavior.
c. Health Behavior Theory/Model Research Application. Research the
professional literature (i.e., scientific and peer-reviewed journal articles) to
determine how researchers have applied health behavior theories or models
to explain, predict, or modify (i.e., develop interventions) this health
behavior. Pick two different evidence-based research studies from the
scientific and peer-reviewed journals and explain how each research study
successfully applied a health behavior theory and/or model to address this
health behavior. Do not apply the theory yourselves; summarize the
findings of each research study and discuss how the researchers (for
each study) utilized interventions or treatments to modify the behavior.
